Whitesnake - Whitesnake [NEW Black Vinyl LP]

David Coverdale's powerful vocals and John Sykes' guitar work transformed Whitesnake into an arena rock headliner on the band's self-titled breakthrough. The album combines heavy guitar riffs, prominent keyboards, and enormous choruses, moving beyond the group's earlier blues-based sound. This black vinyl record contains the nine-song version of the album, including its signature hit singles. Issued in 1987, it became the band's biggest commercial success.

"Still of the Night" opens with an unmistakable guitar riff before shifting into a dramatic, slower middle section and returning to its pounding refrain. "Here I Go Again" turns an earlier Whitesnake song into a radio hit with its keyboard introduction and soaring chorus. "Is This Love" slows the pace for a ballad led by Coverdale's vocal and a restrained guitar melody. "Crying in the Rain" moves in the opposite direction, rebuilding another older song with heavier guitars and a long guitar solo.

Love, separation, and personal resolve recur throughout the album. Coverdale's lyrics alternate between the commitment questioned in 'Is This Love' and the independence asserted in 'Here I Go Again.' Sykes co-wrote much of the material, supplying many of its defining guitar riffs alongside Coverdale's vocal hooks. This edition uses the nine-track 2018 remaster of the U.S. album.
