Viagra Boys is a Swedish post-punk band formed in Stockholm in 2015, and these two EPs capture the band at their most unhinged. Before they achieved international acclaim with 2018's Street Worms, the group honed their chaotic, saxophone-driven sound through intense house shows and limited cassette releases. This 12" marks the first time these EPs have been combined and made available in general retail. Released December 2025 via Year0001, this black vinyl pressing features an embossed and foiled jacket with both original covers designed by singer Sebastian Murphy printed on the inner sleeve, preserving the distinct visual identity of each EP.

The band's sound fuses post-punk, noise rock, garage punk, and no wave. Side A presents Consistency Of Energy with tracks "Research Chemicals," "I Don't Remember That," "Can't Get It Up," and "Liquids." These songs honestly speak about drug addiction in a uniquely immersive way, using darkly comedic imagery about not so comedic situations. Side B features Call Of The Wild with "Baby Teeth," "Upside Backwards," and the title track "Call Of The Wild." The band attaches as many genres as you want (punk rock, post-punk, art punk, dance punk, new rave, cave rave, no wave) and still misses the essence of what they're doing, which is mating black humor to music that is endlessly adventurous and makes abundant use of a skronking saxophone. Murphy's sardonic drawl delivers lyrics that skewer macho posturing, consumer culture, and everyday absurdities with biting satire.

The band's lyrics are known for using satire and dark humor to criticize hypermasculinity and far-right conspiracy theories.. This pressing captures the foundation of a band that would go on to win the Swedish Grammis (grammy) award for Rock of the Year in 2023 and tour with Queens of the Stone Age. The embossed and foiled jacket gives proper treatment to Murphy's artwork, which has always been integral to the band's visual identity. These early recordings showcase Viagra Boys before they refined their sound, offering a glimpse into the fierce energy that made them one of Sweden's most vital punk exports. The combination of these two EPs on one LP provides the perfect introduction to a band that sounds like nobody else.
