The soundtrack to the 2002 vampire film Queen of the Damned stands as a defining document of early 2000s nu-metal, bringing together some of the era's most powerful voices. Produced by Richard Gibbs and Jonathan Davis of Korn, the soundtrack was Davis' first musical project outside his band. Originally, Davis was supposed to perform vocals on the soundtrack, but due to limitations in his record label contract with Sony prohibiting his voice to appear on disc, five of his friends from other bands were chosen: Wayne Static of Static-X, David Draiman of Disturbed, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, Marilyn Manson, and Jay Gordon of Orgy. Davis and Gibbs co-wrote five original songs specifically for the film, with each guest vocalist bringing their distinctive style to the material. This SYEOR (Start Your Ear Off Right) 2025 exclusive on red vinyl marks a limited pressing for one of nu-metal's most essential soundtracks.
The tracklist opens with Wayne Static performing "Not Meant For Me," followed by David Draiman on "Forsaken" and Chester Bennington delivering "System." Deftones contribute "Change (In the House of Flies)," which underscores one of the film's key scenes, while Marilyn Manson's "Redeemer" ranks among the soundtrack's creepiest and most aggressive entries. Papa Roach's "Dead Cell," Godhead's "Penetrate," and Jay Gordon of Orgy performing "Slept So Long" round out the Davis-Gibbs collaborations. Disturbed's "Down With the Sickness," Static-X's "Cold," Earshot's "Headstrong," Dry Cell's "Body Crumbles," Tricky's "Excess," and Kidney Thieves' "Before I'm Dead" complete the 14-track collection. Each track channels the dark, gothic atmosphere of Anne Rice's vampire mythology through the lens of nu-metal's heaviest hitters.
This SYEOR 2025 indie exclusive pressing features striking red vinyl across two LPs, perfectly matching the blood-soaked aesthetic of the film. The limited edition nature of this Start Your Ear Off Right release makes it a highly desirable pressing for nu-metal enthusiasts and soundtrack collectors. The double LP format allows the 14 tracks room to breathe, preserving the sonic aggression and atmospheric darkness that made this soundtrack a snapshot of nu-metal at its commercial and creative peak.
