Van Halen - A Different Kind Of Truth [2 LP, Clear Vinyl]

David Lee Roth reunited with Eddie and Alex Van Halen for a studio album built from songs the band had developed decades earlier. On A Different Kind Of Truth, Wolfgang Van Halen plays bass, marking the group's first studio recording with this lineup. Seven of the 13 songs revisit material originating in late-1970s and early-1980s demos, while new compositions extend the band's hard rock approach. The album became Van Halen's twelfth and final studio release.

"Tattoo" opens with a repeated guitar figure and Roth's lyrics about body art and personal history. "She's The Woman" revisits an early Van Halen song with a quick-moving riff and prominent bass playing from Wolfgang. "China Town" pushes the tempo with fast guitar passages and a shouted chorus, while "Blood And Fire" takes a more melodic route, with Roth looking back on conflicts and survival. Together these songs show how the group combined older musical ideas with material written for the reunion sessions.

Seven songs were developed from material the band had first demoed decades earlier, with new lyrics and arrangements for the 2012 sessions. Wolfgang's bass playing joins Eddie's guitar and Alex's drums behind Roth's lead vocals. The 180g crystal clear vinyl record is a limited indie exclusive Rocktober edition, cut by Chris Bellman and housed as a double LP in a gatefold jacket.
