Details Shipping & Returns

Dream pop, electronic detail, guitar, keyboards, and restrained percussion shape Submarine, with Maria Zardoya's vocals moving between English and Spanish. The album turns a major change within The Marias into songs about separation, isolation, uncertainty, and recovery. This limited edition vinyl record marks the album's second anniversary with RSD Essential #099 status, an indie exclusive alternate cover, and clear and sea blue split vinyl.

"Run Your Mouth" rides a brisk bass-and-drum groove with a sharper pop pulse, while "No One Noticed" slows the pace around guitar, synths, and Zardoya's more exposed vocal delivery. "Blur" builds from a steady beat into a forceful bridge, giving the middle of the album a stronger rhythmic push. Near the end, "If Only" shifts toward piano and horns, creating one of the record's most stripped-back arrangements. Those songs show how Submarine moves between danceable pop, dreamier passages, and quieter material.

Submarine grew from the period after Zardoya and drummer-producer Josh Conway ended their long relationship while continuing to work together in The Marias. Its lyrics return to heartbreak, loneliness, memory, and the effort to regain perspective, while English and Spanish remain part of the album's writing. This 2nd Anniversary RSD Essential edition uses alternate cover art for the pressing.
