London's theatrical five-piece The Last Dinner Party return with From The Pyre, their second studio album released October 17, 2025, via Island Records. Following their breakout debut Prelude to Ecstasy, which earned them the BRITs Rising Star Award and widespread critical acclaim just 20 months earlier, the band worked with producer Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons, Coldplay) and mixer Alan Moulder to create a darker, more visceral record. Recorded in spring 2025 after their original producer James Ford had to step away due to illness, the album marks a shift away from orchestral grandeur toward raw, guitar-driven intensity while maintaining the baroque theatricality that defined their debut.

The album opens with "Agnus Dei," a swirling rock statement that sets a bolder tone, followed by standout singles "This Is the Killer Speaking," "The Scythe," and "Second Best." "This Is the Killer Speaking" delivers country-tinged suspense with lyrics about doomed love, while guitarist Emily Roberts takes lead vocals on the menacing "Rifle," which builds to a thrashing chorus. "The Scythe" stands as one of the band's most devastating tracks, with frontwoman Abigail Morris exploring themes of death and grief through soaring operatics and a killer guitar solo. The album weaves through gothic rock on "Count the Ways," tender moments on "Sail Away," and closes with "Inferno," a piano-driven track that references both Jesus Christ and The Real Housewives while maintaining its light-hearted danceability.

Pressed on standard black vinyl, this edition captures the dynamic range and raw energy of ten tracks that cement The Last Dinner Party as one of the UK's most compelling rock acts. The pressing maintains clarity across Morris' expansive vocal range and the intricate guitar work from Roberts and Mayland, while bassist Georgia Davies and keyboardist Aurora Nishevci provide the foundation for the band's genre-bending approach. This album avoids the difficult second album trap entirely, arriving as a cohesive, character-driven collection that balances theatrical ambition with emotional authenticity.
