The Beatles - 1962-1966 [3 LP, 180g RED Vinyl, The Red Album]

The Beatles' early singles and album cuts are gathered on 1962-1966, the 2023 Edition of The Red Album expanded to 38 tracks. This 3LP red vinyl record edition adds a third LP of 12 songs, including early George Harrison writing and Beatles versions of R&B and rock and roll standards. The collection is half-speed mastered, pressed on 180g vinyl, and sequenced to follow the band's move from Merseybeat singles into the more developed writing of Revolver.

"Love Me Do" and "Please Please Me" place the collection at the start of the Beatles' recording career, with short, hook-driven songs built for the early singles market. "She Loves You" and "I Want To Hold Your Hand" show the group at full Beatlemania scale, while "Yesterday" narrows the sound to a McCartney vocal and string arrangement. "Taxman," "Eleanor Rigby," and "Tomorrow Never Knows" move the set into the Revolver period, where the writing, studio ideas, and subject matter had changed sharply.

The 2023 Edition changes the original 1973 Red Album by adding 12 tracks and placing those additions on the third LP. Thirty tracks were newly mixed for 2023, while "Love Me Do" and "She Loves You" use 2022 mixes created for earlier Beatles projects. New sleeve notes by John Harris add context for the compilation, and the red vinyl ties the edition to the album's long-running identity.
