Queensrÿche moved beyond its debut EP with The Warning, expanding its heavy metal foundation through longer arrangements, twin-guitar writing, Geoff Tate's high-register vocals, and a stronger progressive direction. Chris DeGarmo and Michael Wilton supply the guitar interplay, Eddie Jackson and Scott Rockenfield drive the rhythm section, and Michael Kamen contributes orchestral arrangements that broaden the band's metal core without softening its attack.
"Warning" opens with a forceful riff and urgent chorus, while "Take Hold of the Flame" builds around one of Geoff Tate's defining vocal performances and a prominent lead-guitar section. "N M 156" takes a mechanical, futuristic direction through repeated rhythmic figures, and "Roads to Madness" closes the album with a nearly ten-minute structure that moves through multiple sections. "No Sanctuary" adds a slower dramatic contrast, showing how far Queensrÿche had already stretched beyond conventional metal songwriting.
Lyrically, The Warning repeatedly turns toward technology, control, social collapse, and unchecked power, giving the album a darker conceptual thread without presenting a single continuous story. Produced by James Guthrie, the 1984 album established many of the progressive metal traits Queensrÿche would develop further. This black vinyl record edition comes with an insert with photos and lyrics.

"Take Hold of the Flame" became one of Queensrÿche's signature early songs, while "N M 156" and "Roads to Madness" point toward the more elaborate writing that followed. The Warning bridges the band's EP-era heavy metal and its later progressive work.
