Puscifer has always operated on its own terms, and Normal Isn't makes that case with real conviction. Maynard James Keenan and co-producer Mat Mitchell drew from the goth, synth-punk, and early industrial sounds they grew up on, from Killing Joke to Bauhaus to Siouxsie and the Banshees, resulting in Puscifer's most guitar-driven and immediate album to date. The record marks the trio's first new studio material in over five years.
Lead single "Self Evident" topped Consequence's list of the 30 Best Metal and Hard Rock Songs of 2025 before the album even dropped. "Thrust" opens with sharp, propulsive post-punk energy, while "Bad Wolf" pushes deeper into riff-driven, darker territory. "Seven One" is the album's most layered moment, featuring Tool drummer Danny Carey and bassist Tony Levin alongside narration from Ian Ross. Throughout, the chemistry between Keenan and vocalist Carina Round remains the trio's most compelling through-line.
Normal Isn't arrives on Indie Exclusive Orange Swirl vinyl as a 2LP set, housed in a gatefold cover with printed inner sleeves. The album marks a notable shift from the electronic-forward palette of Existential Reckoning, leaning harder into live instrumentation and rawer textures, with guest appearances from Danny Carey and Tony Levin giving the record added weight and depth.
