Post Malone's debut mixtape, August 26, documents the point when his hip-hop foundation was expanding into the melodic singing and pop instincts that would soon define much of his work. The ten-song program mixes sung hooks, rap verses, trap production, guitar-based ideas, and guests including 2 Chainz, Jeremih, Lil Yachty, Larry June, and Jaden Smith. It predates Stoney and shows the musical approach he was developing before his first studio album.

"Never Understand" opens with Larry June and one of the mixtape's melodic hooks, while "Money Made Me Do It" pairs Post Malone with 2 Chainz over a heavier rap production. "Monta" brings Lil Yachty into a looser, guest-driven track. "Hollywood Dreams / Come Down" takes the sharpest turn: its first section reworks Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" before a beat switch moves it into a rap-focused second half. "Lonely," featuring Jaden Smith and Teo, then pushes the singing and moodier side of the project further forward.

For its 10th Anniversary, August 26 receives its first-ever official physical release, remastered and pressed as a limited-edition vinyl record. This Indie Exclusive uses Spring Leaf Green vinyl and keeps the original ten-track program on a single LP. The pressing brings a mixtape that originally circulated digitally into Post Malone's official vinyl catalog for the first time.
