Paramore - Brand New Eyes [Black Vinyl LP]

Paramore pushed their pop-punk sound into more confrontational territory on Brand New Eyes, their third studio album. Hayley Williams' vocals move between sharp accusations and quieter admissions, while Josh Farro's guitar parts give the louder songs their momentum. The songs grew from internal disagreements, strained friendships, and the difficulty of speaking openly. Rob Cavallo produced the recording sessions alongside the five band members.

"Ignorance" races through an argument about changing relationships, with an insistent chorus and fast guitars. "Playing God" takes a more measured approach as Williams questions someone who insists on judging others. "Brick By Boring Brick" uses a fairy-tale story to examine escapism, building to one of the album's biggest choruses. The acoustic-led "The Only Exception" changes the pace with a love song about learning to trust, while "All I Wanted" closes the album with a sustained, demanding vocal performance.

The album title refers to reconsidering familiar people after disagreements. Williams addresses resentment, blame, responsibility, and reconciliation in lyrics inspired by conflicts within the group. Taylor York joined as a permanent member for this album, the last studio album with both Farro brothers before their departures. The songs emerged from difficult conversations between bandmates.
