Vermont's stadium-filling storyteller Noah Kahan spent 2024 watching Stick Season become the year's fourth best-selling album before retreating home to write his most introspective work. When lead single "The Great Divide" dropped, it immediately hit No. 1 on Spotify's US chart, proving Kahan's fanbase had only grown stronger. The album, released in 2026 as his fourth studio release, following the breakthrough that earned him 22 Platinum and Gold certifications and sold-out shows at Boston's Fenway Park.
Working with producer Gabe Simon and Aaron Dessner of The National, Kahan recorded The Great Divide across four locations including his hometown Guilford, Vermont. The 17-track collection wrestles with the gap between who he was and who he's become. "The Great Divide" opens with stark vulnerability before building into an anthem about distance and disconnection. Throughout the album, Kahan examines childhood friendships strained by fame, the guilt of outgrowing your roots, and the silence that grows between people when life takes them different directions. It's music about coming home changed and wondering if home still recognizes you.
This standard edition 2LP arrives on American Rust colored vinyl with warm, earthy tones. The color evokes autumn in New England, fitting for an artist who built his career singing about small-town Vermont winters and the complications of leaving. With nearly 12 million Stick Season albums sold worldwide and 1.5 million concert tickets moved, Kahan's evolved from folk circuit favorite to one of contemporary music's most compelling voices about youth, place, and belonging.
