After the monumental success of Stick Season, which became the fourth best-selling album of 2024, Noah Kahan returns with his most vulnerable work yet. Lead single "The Great Divide" debuted as Kahan's highest streaming launch to date, hitting No. 1 on the Spotify Top Songs USA Chart and No. 3 on the Top Songs Global Chart. The title track premiered at the 2026 GRAMMY Awards and reached No. 1 on the Spotify Top Songs Ireland Chart. Set for release April 24, 2026 via Mercury Records, The Great Divide marks the two-time GRAMMY-nominated artist's fourth studio album and follows his 4x Platinum single and 2x Platinum album Stick Season.
Recorded across Nashville, Guilford Vermont, upstate New York, and Only Tennessee, The Great Divide explores Kahan's complicated relationship with family, friends, and his native Vermont after years of global success. The album was produced by Stick Season collaborator Gabe Simon alongside GRAMMY-winning producer Aaron Dessner. The title track builds from quiet reflection to soaring crescendo, while the 17-track collection balances vulnerability with expansive, anthemic sounds. Kahan described the writing process as "a balancing act of trying to go back in time and move forward in the same moment." The album addresses themes of childhood friendship, guilt, separation, and the silence that creates distance between people.
This indie exclusive 2LP features translucent beer bottle colored vinyl. The pressing is available exclusively from independent record stores as part of multiple The Great Divide vinyl variants. Kahan's breakthrough Stick Season album sold nearly 12 million copies globally and earned 22 Platinum and Gold certifications, while his sold-out "We'll All Be Here Forever World Tour" moved over 1.5 million tickets including two nights at Boston's Fenway Park. The Great Divide captures the Vermont songwriter at a crossroads, reflecting on success while staying rooted in honest storytelling.
