Florida-based trio Nevertel released their Epitaph Records debut album Start Again in 2025. Comprised of vocalist Jeremy Michael, rapper/guitarist/producer Raul Lopez, and guitarist Alec Davis, the band bonded in adolescence over music and late-night gaming sessions before turning those formative obsessions into a full-fledged project. After independently releasing multiple albums, EPs and singles while amassing over 124 million catalog streams and 600K social media followers, they signed to Epitaph Records in 2024. Recorded in sessions across Los Angeles, Nashville, Memphis and Florida with producer Raul Lopez, the band worked with outside collaborators for the first time, including Dave Cowell of Sleep Theory and Gianni Taylor of Bring Me The Horizon. The album explores themes of second chances, reinvention, and finding new purpose after destroying old versions of yourself.
Drawing on a cocktail of nu-metal nostalgia, hip-hop grit, and EDM adrenaline, their sound feels less like a blend and more like a carefully controlled detonation. Opening with a brief prelude, the album launches into "Criminal," a furious, high-octane introduction led by Chester Bennington-inspired screams and a towering chorus. "Did It All" leans into the band's rap sensibilities with tight verses and rhythmic vocal interplay, while singles "Losing Faith," "Starting Over," and "Some Things" showcase the band's ability to balance aggression with emotional vulnerability. The thirteen tracks are puzzle pieces of older and newer ideas, with recurring threads of crashing, burning, and new beginnings. Additional highlights include "Break the Silence," "Sacrifice," and the closing track "Ever After," each revealing the depth of the trio's songwriting evolution.
This black vinyl pressing delivers the album's genre-blending intensity with clarity, capturing Lopez's intricate production work alongside the razor-edged riffs and breakdowns. Citing touchstones like Linkin Park and Bring Me The Horizon, the band pays homage to the titans of their youth while shaping something unmistakably their own with emotionally raw lyricism. The vinyl format preserves the dynamic range between the album's heaviest moments and its most introspective passages, offering a complete vision of a band ready to enter their next chapter.
