Los Angeles duo Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin built an entire universe from their home studio during COVID lockdown. Mercurial World debuted on two Billboard charts in 2021, peaking at number 18 on the Heatseekers Albums chart and number 59 on the Current Album Sales chart. Released October 8, 2021 through Luminelle Recordings, the 14-track album became a cult favorite and preceded their breakthrough 2024 follow-up Imaginal Disk. Written, produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered entirely by Tenenbaum and Lewin, Mercurial World explores theories about time, existence, and technology through retro Y2K aesthetics.

"Secrets (Your Fire)" which became a breakout hit with infectious hooks and shimmering synthesizers, while "You Lose!" delivers noisy grungy heartbreak. "Chaeri" builds from progressive house to club-worthy climax, and "Dreamcatching" showcases their maximalist synth-pop vision. "Hysterical Us" channels COVID-era anxiety into bright dance-pop, while closer "The Beginning" creates a silky techno-cinematic loop that flows seamlessly back to opener "The End." Tenenbaum's breathy vocals and Lewin's immaculate production weave disco, EDM, vaporwave, and video game music into dense escapist pop.

This indie exclusive features orchid purple vinyl with printed inner sleeve containing lyrics. The conceptual visuals incorporate digital aesthetics inspired by David Lynch and David Cronenberg films, creating what critics called one of 2021's best pop albums.
