KISS turn the Anaheim Stadium stage into a snapshot of the original lineup at full concert scale on KISS Destroys Anaheim '76. Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss move through material from the band's first four studio albums plus Destroyer, with guitar and bass solos built into the set. Recorded for more than 42,000 fans in California, the show was the largest audience KISS had played to at that point in their career.
"Detroit Rock City" opens with the band's hard-rock attack already at full speed, while "Shout It Out Loud" puts Stanley and Simmons into one of the set's biggest call-and-response choruses. "God of Thunder" expands into a longer stage piece with Gene Simmons' bass solo and Peter Criss' drum solo, and "Rock and Roll All Nite" follows with the crowd-ready anthem that had become central to KISS concerts. "Black Diamond" closes the performance with Criss on lead vocal before the final guitar-heavy section.
Eddie Kramer originally recorded the Anaheim concert and returned to newly mix it from the original multitrack tapes. This 2LP vinyl record runs more than 60 minutes on 180g black vinyl and includes an insert with Deluxe liner-note highlights, unreleased photos, and memorabilia imagery. The four sides preserve the concert sequence from "Detroit Rock City" through "Black Diamond."
