Kings of Leon loosen their grip on the polished arena-rock scale of recent albums for Can We Please Have Fun, reconnecting with the restless energy and garage-rock drive of their early work. Recorded at Dark Horse studio with producer Kid Harpoon, the band's ninth studio album moves between punchy rock songs, slower atmospheric pieces, and moments of rough-edged humor. This indie exclusive vinyl record is pressed on opaque Apple Red vinyl.
"Mustang" opens with a prowling bass line and a clipped chorus built around Caleb Followill's repeated question, while "Nowhere To Run" moves at a quicker pace with bright guitar figures and a more urgent vocal. "Split Screen" stretches past five minutes, using a slower build and reflective lyrics to create one of the album's most restrained moments. "Nothing To Do" turns back toward faster garage rock, with a compact arrangement and a rougher vocal performance that recalls the band's earliest records.
The album's title reflects a decision to work with fewer expectations and place enjoyment back at the center of the sessions. That attitude comes through in songs that move from relationship tension and uncertainty to playful lines and loose performances. "Don't Stop The Bleeding" and "Seen" add a more reflective side, giving the 12-song album room to slow down before its final track.
