Khruangbin & Leon Bridges - Texas Moon [Black Vinyl EP]

The second chapter of the collaborative partnership between Houston trio Khruangbin and Fort Worth singer Leon Bridges arrived in 2022, following the success of their 2020 Texas Sun EP. Bridges describes the five-track collection as "more introspective," while Khruangbin bassist Laura Lee says it "feels more night time." The EP continues their exploration of Texas musical identity while taking on darker, more contemplative themes including love, faith, and death.

"Doris" combines Philly soul with psychedelic elements, while "B-Side" mixes disco with West African juju influences. "Chocolate Hills" and "Father Father" maintain the EP's moody atmosphere, with "Mariella" blending country cadences with ambient, indie-rock warmth. The 22-minute collection represents what both artists call a unique creative space, with Lee stating it's neither Khruangbin nor Leon Bridges individually, but a world they created together.

This black vinyl 12" EP captures the nocturnal counterpart to Texas Sun, offering what Khruangbin describes as necessary perspective: without joy, there can be no real understanding of sorrow, and without sunlight, rain alone cannot help things grow.
