Iron Maiden expanded the melodic scope of their heavy metal sound on Piece Of Mind, pairing Steve Harris' galloping bass lines with twin-guitar harmonies, shifting tempos, and Bruce Dickinson's commanding vocals. The album also introduced drummer Nicko McBrain to the band's studio lineup, completing the classic five-member configuration heard on much of their 1980s work. This edition uses the 2015 remaster and is pressed on 180g black vinyl.

"Where Eagles Dare" opens with McBrain's rolling drum introduction before moving into a fast, martial arrangement, while "Revelations" alternates quieter passages with heavier sections and layered guitar parts. "Flight of Icarus" slows the pace around a broad melodic chorus, and "The Trooper" drives forward on Harris' signature galloping bass pattern, harmonized guitars, and one of Dickinson's best-known vocal performances. "Die With Your Boots On" adds a rapid, chorus-driven track built around the band's twin-guitar attack.

War, mythology, literature, and mortality supply much of Piece Of Mind's subject matter. "The Trooper" draws from the Charge of the Light Brigade, "Flight of Icarus" reworks the Greek myth, and "To Tame a Land" was inspired by Frank Herbert's Dune. This 180g black vinyl LP is housed in a gatefold jacket with a printed inner sleeve, while the lacquers were cut by mastering engineer Chris Bellman.
