Drawn from the Grateful Dead's October 1974 farewell run at Winterland in San Francisco, Steal Your Face documents the band just before its touring hiatus. The 1976 double live album favors individual songs over extended jams, moving through Chuck Berry rock and roll, country material, Garcia-Hunter ballads, and concert staples. This limited 50th Anniversary indie exclusive pairs the newly remastered album with the Rhino Spirit of 76 series.

"Cold Rain & Snow" moves with a steady, blues-based pulse before "Stella Blue" slows the set for one of Jerry Garcia's most reflective vocal performances. "Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo" shifts between measured verses and a more open closing section, while "U.S. Blues" delivers a compact, satirical rocker built for the stage. "Sugaree" stretches beyond its studio form through Garcia's guitar passages, and "Casey Jones" closes the album with a familiar chorus and a firmer rock and roll drive.

The program emphasizes the Grateful Dead as a working live band rather than a vehicle for uninterrupted improvisation. "Ship of Fools" and "It Must Have Been the Roses" sit beside cowboy songs, blues standards, and originals from the group's early-1970s repertoire. David Glasser remastered the album, while the discs use the official Grateful Red and Stealie Blue colors developed with Pantone.
