Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett launched their virtual band concept with the Tomorrow Comes Today EP, originally released in November 2000 as Gorillaz's first commercial release. The four-track EP introduced the world to the animated quartet of 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs, blending trip-hop, alternative rock, and electronic elements into a distinctive sound that would define the project. Released with minimal promotion, the EP featured the title track and "Rock the House" alongside two B-sides, all showcasing Albarn's experimental approach to songwriting within the Gorillaz framework.
"Tomorrow Comes Today" and "Rock the House" both appeared on the band's 2001 self-titled debut album, with "Rock the House" featuring a verse from Del the Funky Homosapien. The EP's third track, "Latin Simone," presents the English-language version sung by 2-D, a rarity since the album version was re-recorded in Spanish with Ibrahim Ferrer. The closing track "12D3" rounds out the collection, later appearing on the G-Sides compilation. These four tracks established the Gorillaz template of genre-blending experimentation and virtual band mythology.
Pressed on 140-gram blue & white A-side/B-side vinyl (incorrectly marketed as color-in-color vinyl), this 25th anniversary reissue marks the first time the EP has been pressed in this format since its original 2000 release.
