A 2009 release in the US and UK, I Told You I Was Freaky is the second studio album by New Zealand folk parody duo Flight of the Conchords, featuring 13 songs. Following their Grammy-winning debut, Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement expanded their sonic palette while maintaining the razor-sharp wit that made them HBO darlings. The album includes three songs from the second series of the show which are otherwise unreleased: "Rambling Through the Avenues of Time," "Too Many Dicks (On the Dance Floor)" and "You Don't Have to Be a Prostitute". Limited to 2,500 copies, the indie exclusive purple metallic vinyl pressing celebrates the duo's fearless approach to genre parody and sophisticated musical arrangements.

Standout tracks include "Sugalumps," with its absurdist boasting over smooth R&B production, "Carol Brown," a revenge-of-the-exes anthem, and "We're Both In Love with a Sexy Lady," a real-time narrative odyssey. "Hurt Feelings" opens the album with wounded sensitivity, while "Too Many Dicks (On the Dance Floor)" addresses an age-old club dilemma over infectious electronic beats. The title track embraces horror movie aesthetics, and "Angels" delivers unexpectedly vivid imagery about celestial snowflakes. "Fashion Is Danger" takes on haute couture with electro-pop flair, while "Petrov, Yelyena and Me" channels Cold War romance. Each track demonstrates the duo's ability to master different genres while simultaneously satirizing them, from soul and electronic to folk and theatrical ballads.

Pressed on purple metallic vinyl, the indie exclusive edition offers a vibrant presentation befitting the album's playful spirit. Limited to 2,500 copies and featuring an insert, the pressing represents a desirable item for those who appreciate the duo's unique blend of musical craftsmanship and comedic brilliance. Bret McKenzie handles lead vocals, guitars, keyboards, piano, Wurlitzer electric piano and drum programming, while Jemaine Clement contributes lead vocals, guitars and bass guitar. The vinyl format brings warmth to the diverse production styles, making repeated listens reveal new layers of both humor and musicianship.
