Christine McVie contributes the playful "Think About Me" and the surprisingly dark, jazzy "Brown Eyes," while Buckingham provides the wild cards in largely self-recorded plunges into his own skittish psyche, culminating in the massive title song beefed up by the University of Southern California's marching band. Influenced by bands such as Talking Heads, Buckingham was desperate to make Mac relevant to a post-punk world.

Despite peaking at number four on the Billboard 200 and selling four million copies, the album was regarded as a commercial failure compared to Rumours.
