Deftones - Private Music [Black Vinyl LP]

Deftones bring their heavy guitars and melodic atmosphere into close balance on private music, their tenth studio album, with touring bassist Fred Sablan joining the recordings. Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham and Frank Delgado work again with producer Nick Raskulinecz, whose earlier Deftones credits include Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan. The album runs 11 songs and was recorded in California and Nashville studio sessions.

"my mind is a mountain" opens with a heavy guitar figure before Chino Moreno shifts into a more melodic vocal line, while "milk of the madonna" pushes harder through its riff and chorus. "infinite source" combines broad guitar chords, forceful drums and a rising vocal refrain. "cut hands" changes the approach again, using a more rhythm-driven verse and a rap-metal inflection before returning to a sung chorus, showing how the album moves between weight, melody and groove without abandoning Deftones' core sound.

This black vinyl LP is housed in a single jacket and includes an 8-page, full-color booklet with photographs, lyrics and credits. The pressing was mastered by Howie Weinberg and Will Borza, with lacquer cutting credited to JN-H at Sterling Sound Nashville. Side A contains six tracks from "my mind is a mountain" through "cXz," while Side B carries the final five songs on the LP.
