Deep Purple return to full-length studio work with SPLAT!, a 13-song album produced by Bob Ezrin and made by the current lineup of Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Don Airey, and Simon McBride. This indie exclusive 2LP yellow vinyl record edition carries the album at 45 RPM, giving the set four sides for the full tracklist. For longtime fans, it also marks the band's second studio album with McBride on guitar after =1 on lead guitar.

"Arrogant Boy" opens the album with Gillan telling the story of Billy, a character who cannot read or write and pushes back at the people above him. "Diablo" moves into another story world, with a dangerous crossing and a sequence of trials that turn the song into a narrative piece. "Guilt Trippin'" shifts the writing again, building around an imagined conversation between God and Charles Darwin. "The Only Horse In Town," "Sacred Land," and "Splat!" show how the album spreads its ideas across all four vinyl sides.

Ian Gillan conceived SPLAT! around transformation rather than destruction, using the end of humanity as the album's larger subject without reducing it to a simple disaster story. That idea gives the track titles and character sketches a connected frame, from the pushback in "Arrogant Boy" to the surreal questions behind "Guilt Trippin'". Includes a 12-page full-color booklet.
