Disraeli Gears is the second studio album by the first rock supergroup Cream featuring Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker. This 180-gram virgin vinyl LP features an embossed cover where you can feel the angel from Martin Sharp's iconic Day-Glo psychedelic artwork. Something of a departure from their blues roots, Disraeli Gears perfectly captured the mood of the period with a powerful array of psychedelic rockers. Recorded in just three and a half days at Atlantic Studios, NY, following nine shows as part of the Music in the 5th Dimension concert series, the album reached No. 5 in the UK Charts and No. 4 in the Billboard 200.
"Sunshine of Your Love" reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in August 1968, becoming Cream's only gold-selling single in the United States. The album's other landmark numbers include "Strange Brew" and the wah-wah drenched "Tales of Brave Ulysses." Tracks like "World of Pain," "Dance the Night Away," and "We're Going Wrong" showcase the trio's ability to blend heavy blues rock with psychedelic experimentation. Jack Bruce's operatic vocals and fluid bass playing, Eric Clapton's innovative guitar work, and Ginger Baker's jazz-influenced drumming create a sound that went beyond blues into uncharted sonic territory. Every track demonstrates the power trio format at its absolute peak.
This 180-gram audiophile pressing delivers the album's textured, multi-dubbed sound with exceptional clarity. The embossed cover brings tactile dimension to Martin Sharp's celebrated psychedelic artwork, recognized as one of the finest acid rock designs of the era. The pressing features exact reproductions of original artwork to retain authenticity, making this a premium edition of one of the 1960s' most influential rock albums.
