Candlemass returned to their epic doom metal foundation on Death Magic Doom, pairing Leif Edling's heavy guitar and bass writing with Robert Lowe's commanding second album performance for the band. Slow, weighty passages share space with faster openings, prominent choruses, and lead guitar work from Lars Johansson. This indie exclusive vinyl record expands the original eight-song album with two bonus tracks on a limited edition 2LP gold vinyl pressing.

"If I Ever Die" opens at a quicker pace before settling into Candlemass' trademark weight, while "Hammer of Doom" slows into a repeated central riff and a broad vocal refrain. "The Bleeding Baroness" balances a longer arrangement with one of the album's most melodic choruses. "House of 1000 Voices" builds around a recurring guitar figure and an extended narrative, and "My Funeral Dreams" closes the original album with shifting tempos and Robert Lowe moving between lower verses and higher sustained lines.

Death, fear, supernatural figures, and visions of burial shape Leif Edling's lyrics throughout the album's eight original songs. The gold vinyl edition adds "Lucifer Rising (Outtake)" and "White God" on Side C, while Side D carries an etched design.
