Cage the Elephant's fourth studio album brought The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach into the producer's chair for a 10-track collection recorded at Easy Eye Sound in Nashville during spring 2015. The album won the award for Best Rock Album at the 59th Grammy Awards and achieved gold certification. The album peaked at number 26 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on both Top Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums. Auerbach's production approach emphasized first takes and scratch vocals, pushing the Kentucky band toward a more organic and transparent sound.

"Mess Around" served as the lead single, released on October 29, 2015, accompanied by a music video created using footage from the 1902 film A Trip to the Moon and other films by Georges Méliès. "Trouble" followed as the second single and topped the Alternative Songs chart, while "Cold Cold Cold" became the third single. Other standout tracks include "Too Late to Say Goodbye" and "How Are You True," the latter featuring 13 chords including a challenging C-sharp minor 7 flat 5 progression.
