Recorded after the mainstream breakthrough of Electriclarryland, Butthole Surfers' After The Astronaut documents the album the band completed before it was shelved and partly reworked into later material. The songs connect the group's Texas psych-punk history with late-90s electronic loops, oddball hooks, and blunt rock structures. This Indie Exclusive limited edition opaque white vinyl record presents the original album title and its twelve-song running order.

"The Weird Revolution" opens with the title phrase that later resurfaced in altered form, giving this version direct importance in the band's history.
