Sheffield quartet Arctic Monkeys returned with Favourite Worst Nightmare, their second studio album released April 23, 2007, via Domino Recording Company. Recorded at Miloco Studios in East London with producers James Ford and Mike Crossey, the album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart with first-week sales of 227,993 copies, while first-day sales of 85,000 outsold the rest of the Top 20 combined. This UK import pressing captures the complete 12-track album on black vinyl housed in a gatefold jacket. The album earned a Mercury Prize nomination in 2007 and won Best British Album at the 2008 BRIT Awards, eventually achieving quadruple Platinum certification in the UK with over 1.2 million copies sold. The title comes from a lyric in "D Is for Dangerous," the third track on the record.
Lead singles "Brianstorm," "Fluorescent Adolescent," and "Teddy Picker" showcase the band's evolved sound, with "Brianstorm" reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart and featuring frenetic surf guitar over pulverizing drums. "Fluorescent Adolescent" delivers retro-soul influenced basslines with Alex Turner's caustic vocals, while "Teddy Picker" takes aim at disposable singing-contest culture. The album balances frontal assault with emotional depth on tracks like "Do Me a Favour," which builds from tumbling rhythms to cresting blasts of guitars, and the closing track "505," a tour-sick snapshot of desire that builds to a glistening finale. "If You Were There, Beware" channels dark desert-rock energy, "This House Is a Circus" captures rowdy party chaos, and "Only Ones Who Know" offers quieter introspection. Throughout 37 minutes, the album proves more muscular and aggressive than their debut while showcasing new emotional maturity.
Pressed on black vinyl across two sides and housed in a gatefold jacket, this UK import delivers enhanced dynamics compared to the heavily compressed digital master. Made in the UK, the pressing captures the album's punchy drums, clear instrument separation, and Turner's sharp vocal delivery with warmth and fidelity. All 12 tracks entered the UK Singles Chart Top 200 upon release, marking the only Arctic Monkeys album to achieve that feat. This edition represents the band's first collaboration with bassist Nick O'Malley, who replaced Andy Nicholson and remains with the group today, and marks the beginning of their longstanding partnership with producer James Ford.
