Amy Winehouse's debut album, Frank, combines jazz phrasing, soul, R&B, and hip-hop production with songwriting that is already unmistakably personal. Salaam Remi handles much of the production, giving tracks room for upright bass, guitar, programmed drums, and Winehouse's conversational delivery. This 2LP vinyl record edition is pressed on heavyweight 180g black vinyl and housed in a gatefold jacket with lyrics included in the packaging.

"Stronger Than Me" opens with clipped rhythm and a pointed lyric about an unequal relationship, while "You Sent Me Flying" moves from restrained opening into a fuller arrangement joined with "Cherry." "Fuck Me Pumps" uses humor and sharp observation over a relaxed groove, and "In My Bed" brings a stronger hip-hop pulse through its Salaam Remi production. "Take The Box" slows the album down again, using piano and a measured vocal to frame one of Winehouse's most direct breakup songs and clearest vocal performances.

Much of Frank deals with difficult relationships, sexual independence, jealousy, and Winehouse's refusal to soften what she wants to say. "I Heard Love Is Blind," "What Is It About Men," and "Amy Amy Amy" show different sides of that candor, moving from confession to frustration and humor.
