A Day To Remember's fourth studio album What Separates Me from You marked a pivotal moment in the Florida band's career, balancing their metalcore roots with increasingly accessible pop-punk melodies. The album was recorded mainly at The Wade Studios in Ocala, Florida, from May to July 2010, and was the first to feature guitarist Kevin Skaff. Produced mostly by Chad Gilbert with help from Andrew Wade and vocalist Jeremy McKinnon, the album represented the band's final release for Victory Records. The album debuted at number 11 on the U.S. Billboard 200, and number 1 on several charts including Top Hard Rock Albums, Top Independent Albums, and Top Modern Rock/Alternative Albums. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA in March 2016, with "All I Want" also certified gold in August, cementing its status as one of the band's most commercially successful releases.
"All I Want" was released as the first single and reached number 12 on the U.S. Alternative Songs chart and number 25 on the Rock Songs chart. The song's soaring chorus and motivational lyrics became an anthem for the band's devoted fanbase. "It's Complicated" and "Better Off This Way" showcase the album's pop-punk leanings with massive sing-along hooks, while "You Be Tails, I'll Be Sonic" brings cathartic screamo energy with melodic undertones. "All Signs Point to Lauderdale" delivers both heavy breakdowns and infectious melodies, demonstrating the band's ability to balance extremes. "2nd Sucks" features a sample from Mortal Kombat and became a fan favorite, while "Sticks & Bricks" opens with pummeling intensity. "Out of Time" and "If It Means a Lot to You" round out the 10-track collection, showing the band's range from aggressive to emotionally vulnerable.
This black vinyl pressing delivers the album's dynamic production with clarity, capturing both the crushing heaviness of the breakdowns and the pristine vocal melodies. The standard jacket preserves the album's distinctive cover art, making this an accessible entry point for discovering one of pop-punk and metalcore's most successful crossover albums. This pressing captures a band at the peak of their powers, creating music that appealed equally to hardcore and mainstream rock audiences.
