A Day To Remember turns Homesick into a high-pressure mix of metalcore breakdowns, pop-punk choruses, and lyrics about distance, touring, and trying to hold a personal life together while the band is constantly moving. Produced with Chad Gilbert, the album became a defining release in the band's catalog because it joins heavy songs with hooks built for singalong moments. This black vinyl record presents the original album program as a single-LP edition.
"The Downfall Of Us All" opens with the shouted "da-da-da" hook before the song drops into a fast, crowd-ready attack. "My Life For Hire" points at frustration with the music business, while "I'm Made Of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of?" turns its movie-reference title into a revenge song with heavier guest vocals from Mike Hranica. "Have Faith In Me" gives the album its clearest melodic single, and "If It Means A Lot To You" closes with an acoustic duet about distance, strain, and life away from home.
The album's strength comes from the push between homesickness and momentum, with songs written around life on the road, loyalty, resentment, and the pull of going home. Jeremy McKinnon's writing keeps the conflicts specific, especially when the album moves from full-band impact into the closing track. Homesick helped define A Day To Remember's blend of pop-punk hooks.
