tom-verlaine-dreamtime-rocktober-limited-clear-vinyl-lp
Tom Verlaine - Dreamtime [Rocktober, Limited Clear Vinyl LP]

Guitar interplay and clipped, melodic phrasing define Tom Verlaine's second solo album, Dreamtime, a 1981 set that extends his work beyond Television into leaner, more personal territory. Verlaine handles vocals and guitar with Fred Smith on bass, Jay Dee Daugherty on drums, and Ritchie Fliegler on guitar, giving the songs a compact band sound. This Rocktober limited edition indie exclusive returns the album to vinyl record format on clear 140g vinyl.

"There's a Reason" opens the album with layered guitar lines and a brisk rock pulse, while "Penetration" pares the arrangement down around a heavier rhythmic push and spare guitar figures. "The Blue Robe" moves in a more instrumental direction, giving Verlaine room for extended guitar interplay rather than a vocal-led structure. "Mary Marie" closes the record with organ from Bruce Brody and a slower R&B-based groove, giving the second side a distinctly different final turn from the harder-edged songs that precede it.

Dreamtime balances songs about uncertainty, desire, distance, and fractured communication with concise writing and little excess. Verlaine's vocals sit against the band's restless passages, while Fred Smith's bass and Jay Dee Daugherty's drumming keep the arrangements grounded. The album was Verlaine's first Warner Bros. solo release and his second album after leaving Television.

Format: Vinyl LP, Limited Edition

Standout tracks: "There's a Reason," "Penetration," "The Blue Robe," "Mary Marie"

Pressing details: 140g Clear Vinyl, Rocktober, Indie Exclusive

Genre/style: Post-Punk, Art Punk, New Wave

UPC: 603497826926

Dreamtime is a strong choice for listeners drawn to Verlaine's guitar language beyond Television, especially the contrast between "There's a Reason," "Penetration," and "Always." This clear-vinyl Rocktober pressing gives his second solo album a dedicated and collectible new LP edition.

* The Spotify track list may not exactly represent the tracks and audio of this LP edition.

Track List:

Side A:

There's A Reason

Penetration

Always

The Blue Robe

Without A Word

Side B:

Mr Blur

Fragile

A Future In Noise

Down On The Farm

Mary Marie

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0877/7662/4961/files/tom-verlaine-dreamtime-rocktober-limited-edition-clear-vinyl-album-cover-6926.jpg?v=1790948341
