love-love-rocktober-limited-edition-red-colored-vinyl
Love - Love [Rocktober, Limited Edition Red Colored Vinyl]

Love's self-titled debut puts Arthur Lee's early songwriting beside the band's mix of folk-rock drive, garage-rock attack, and hints of the psychedelic direction they would soon develop further. "My Little Red Book" turns a Bacharach-David song into a fast, clipped opener, while the rest of the set mixes originals by Lee and Bryan MacLean. This Rocktober limited edition indie exclusive returns the album to vinyl record format on 140g transparent red vinyl.

"A Message to Pretty" leans into chiming folk-rock guitar and a gentler vocal line, while "My Flash on You" pushes harder with a more urgent beat and garage-rock edge. "Softly to Me," written and sung by Bryan MacLean, gives the record a different melodic voice before "Signed D.C." slows the pace into a stark, blues-based performance. Those songs show how the debut moves between concise pop writing, tougher electric rock, and moodier material without yet settling into the ornate style of Love's later records.

Much of Love's first album reflects the Los Angeles club scene the band emerged from, with Arthur Lee's writing moving between romance, anxiety, and darker personal material. The album also includes Love's early version of "Hey Joe" and closes with "And More," keeping the emphasis on short songs. Rhino's Rocktober edition is pressed on transparent red 140g vinyl as a limited release.

Format: Vinyl LP, Limited Edition

Standout tracks: "My Little Red Book," "A Message to Pretty," "Softly to Me," "Signed D.C."

Pressing details: 140g Transparent Red Vinyl, Rocktober, Indie Exclusive

Genre/style: Folk Rock, Garage Rock, Psychedelic Rock

UPC: 603497810826

Love's debut documents the band's early folk-rock and garage-rock identity before the broader arrangements of the albums that followed. "My Little Red Book," "A Message to Pretty," and "Signed D.C." show three sides of Arthur Lee's writing and Love's 1966 sound.

* The Spotify track list may not exactly represent the tracks and audio of this LP edition.

Track List:

Side A:

My Little Red Book

Can't Explain

A Message To Pretty

My Flash On You

Softly To Me

No Matter What You Do

Emotions

Side B:

You I'll Be Following

Gazing

Hey Joe

Signed D.C.

Colored Balls Falling

Mushroom Clouds

And More

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0877/7662/4961/files/love-love-rocktober-limited-edition-red-vinyl-album-cover-0826.jpg?v=1790950472
